The City of Tega Cay and the Forever Foundation held A Put Your Mark On The Catawba Park Event At the Glennon Center to introduce local businesses to Catawba Park and the impact it will have on the community. We interviewed Senator Wes Climber, Tega Cay Mayor David O’Neal, and TC Parks and Recreation Director Joey Blethen to find out more abut the event and the park.
On Thursday March 7th, 2019, a Gala was held inviting local businesses to hear about the planned 62 acre Catawba Park. The park has been in the planning stages for approx. 10 years with plans to begin phase one by Fall of 2019. The event was a fundraising event with the hope to have local business invest in levels of sponsorship for Catawba Park. Speakers at the event were Senator Wes Climer, David Swenson Director of the York County Economic Development Council, City Manger Charlie Funderburk, and Parks and Rec Director Joey Blethen.
Catawba Park will be located on New Gray Rock Road and will house baseball/softball fields, multi-purpose fields, walking trails, Catawba River access, playgrounds, open space and picnic shelters. This park is being made possible thanks to partnerships between the City, Duke Energy and Clear Springs. Watch our video or find out more at https://www.tegacaysc.org/1414/Catawba-Park.
