Gas stations are on the development move in the Fort Mill Township lately. A QT, QuickTrip, gas/convenience store recently opened on Gold Hill Road and Pleasant Rd in the Fort Mill Township. On the opening week, regular unleaded gas was selling for $2.97 a gallon. Gas stations near the new QT quickly lowered their prices to match or be slightly higher than QT’s price. Some lowered their price as much as 12 cents a gallon. Nice! a small gas pricing war.
Another QT gas station is under construction at the corner of Highway 160 and Sutton Road. Home owners in Baxter Village raised concerns and created a petition to block a needed setback variance from the York County Council last December. They were worried that the gas station would bring more traffic to an intersection that is already congested. The variance was approved by the the York County Council and site work for the QT has begun.
The BP station on Hwy 160 and Carolina Place Drive recently expanded and added several more gas pumps to the back of their building.
The Sunoco gas station that is on the corner of Hwy 160 and Gold Hill Drive has recently sold to Sam’s Mart. I heard from one of their employees Sam’s Mart plans to expand the facility including adding more gas pumps.
The good news is we are seeing several planned projects and new businesses in our area. A primary concern for some local residents or Fort Mill and Tega Cay are related to traffic congestion on Hwy 160 and other local roads. Your thoughts?
