There is just something special about fall, back to school, and going to local high school football games. The Fort Mill  School football program is geared up for another great season and I recommend attending a high school football game for fun, excitement, and a chance to get to know our Fort Mill community.  Here are the 2 local high school varsity football schedules for this fall.

Tega Cay Residents See A New Fort Mill School District Sign

The proposed new Fort Mill School District elementary school, currently named “Number 8”, received its first structure. The new sign was recently installed to mark the location of the new school.

The new school site on Gold Hill Drive is at the edge of Tega Cay’s city limits. Mayor George Sheppard in his Fourth of July address made the following statements about the new school;

Maybe you have or haven’t heard about the property that the FM School district just purchased on the other side of the Tega Cay sign (better known as the McCall property). (more…)

Exciting news Tega Cay and Fort Mill!  George and Jan Wallace from Tega Cay are opening a new garden center in Fort Mill in Spring 2010. It took vision and nerves of steel, but Jan and George purchased property on Highway 160 at the border of North and South Carolina and are building a premier garden center. (more…)

election logoThe York County SC uncertified election results for November 3rd 2009 results are posted on theYork County SC Registrations and Elections website. The election calendar states the certified results will be completed by November 5th at 10am.

The District 49 State House of Representatives seat goes to Republican Ralph Norman.

It’s election day in York County SC. There are some heated seat races this year especially in Tega Cay SC.

Incumbent Bob Runde is running for Tega Cay mayor again. George Sheppard the current Mayor Pro Tempore is running against Bob Runde. Seetegacay.com has a Tega Cay Mayor’s election poll. As of this morning the poll indicated George Sheppard has 71% of the votes. See the latest Tega Cay Mayors race poll results at Seetegacay.com.

Charlotte Metro – Fort Mill Ranked in Top 100 Cheapest Places To Live

Night picture of Downtown Charlotte People are still relocating but where are they relocating too? The Charlotte metro which includes the Fort Mill area is ranked 17th in the Top 100 cheapest places to live according to Forbes Magazine Lucy Maher.

Maher says;

Americans are swapping their expensive lives on the urban coasts and reaching for greener pastures elsewhere. North Carolina and Colorado are a magnet for newcomers.

The Charlotte metro area, although slower than the past years, is still gaining in population.

Tega Cay Now In Stage 1 Water Restrictions April 2009

Lake Wylie sunsetIt’s hard to believe that Tega Cay, Fort Mill, Baxter Village, Lake Wylie, and other areas of York County have been under water restriction since mid Summer 2007.  Tega Cay has been following Stage 3 water restrictions since October 2007. The Tega Cay Council voted Monday to ease restrictions to Stage 1 voluntary restrictions. You now can water lawns, wash cars, pressure wash, etc with no limitations but are advised to voluntarily conserve water. The goal is to conserve 3 to 5% in overall water consumption.
