New Fast Food Restaurant in Tega Cay?
I imagine you, like me, are curious about the new fast food restaurant under construction at Gray Stone Crossing Shopping Center in Tega Cay (Hwy 160 between Dam Rd and Stonecrest Blvd). I have not found anyone directly familiar with PDQ. I know the Fort Mill Times sent out a Tweet a while back asking anybody for info on PDQ. Here is what I have been able to find about PDQ via my internet research.
PDQ Fresh Food Fast restaurant is a new concept restaurant developed and owned by the Captiva Restaurant Group together with Robert Basham (co-founder of Outback Steak House). Captiva’s partners Mike Vaughn, Joe Douglas and Chris Carlsen own and operate the small chain of 131 Main restaurants in Cornelius and Charlotte. Their always fresh concept (they don’t own a freezer) at 131 Main units is part of the PDQ’s fresh food concept claiming food is never frozen. The group decided to expand the PDQ concept after success with the first PDQ type unit in Cornelius NC called Tenders Fresh Food.
Info from a real estate marketing listing claims PDQ’s menu will be a simple offering of chicken tenders and sandwiches, turkey pork tenderloin sandwiches, fries, milkshakes, and fruit. PDQ estimates opening in September. As you can see in the first picture, a sign company was putting the last sign up yesterday evening.
By the way, the .084 AC PDQ site is being marketed for sale (ground lease) as an investment by Berkeley Capital Advisors LLC for $950,210.
PDQ is located at 2435 SC Highway 160, Tega Cay, SC 29708

Wow, I really love the concept. The name though… I mean come on, they couldn’t find a better name than PDQ.

Just ate there and they seriously have the best chicken tenders ever! They were so fresh and so well seasoned tasted like my grandma’s old recipe. And the french fries are skinny krinkle fries, which I have never seen before. They were excellent too! Taste like homemade fresh cut potato fries! Will definately be going back…very impressed!

They have great food there. My children love the Chicken Tenders they are so Juicy and mouth watering. The shakes are wonderful as well. They do sell the tenders for parties and such. The Manager is a great person to talk to all of the employee’s walk around and make sure customers need refills and they get them. There is no standing in line to get refills. They make the sauces there in the store. For $20 you can get 25 chicken tenders. Steve said that if you buy a large amount the tenders itself range from 89 cents a piece. The french fries are great. They are small but you get alot. Great place to sit down and enjoy a meal with family, friends and co-workers. Steve said they can do office Parties as well as long as they know in advance.

Just tried this place for the first time. Bad first impression… they forgot my kids meal at the drive-through and I had to go back inside and get it. Nobody even thought to say sorry for the inconvenience. There were like 5 people behind the counter and none of them seem to give a darn. So, we get home with everything (5 minutes away) and the fries are good but a little cold. I open my grilled chicken sandwich and it has MAYO- even though the menu says it comes with honey mustard. Since I hate mayo I am now forced to go back once again. My 10 year old starts eating and his chicken sandwich has a bone in it. Very discouraging… I don’t know if I will give them a second chance or not. The food was a little more expensive than most other fast food places in town and not worth the hassle I had to go through after a really long day.

This is a follow up in case you are wondering… I returned to the store with the two sandwiches in tow and the manager was super understanding. He offered to remake the entire order even though my daughter ate the kids meal. Then he also gave us three complimentary meals for a return visit. The food was great once we returned home with fresh hot food. I will definitely give it another try.

Heather, I’m glad PDQ took care of your customer complaint. It’s too bad you had to go back to take care of it.
I made a stop at PDQ yesterday for lunch. No line at the drive thru. I ate a crisp turkey breast sandwich. Interesting taste and I liked it. Fries are the best. I thought the drink size for combo meal offering compared to other fast food places was too small.

An update note. I read a release the other day PDQ plans on opening 2 units in Tampa and is hunting for a site in Charlotte.

PDQ stands for “Pretty Darn Quick”. It’s a common term used to describe displays by many retailers. Stores like Target and Wal-Mart want a display that their employees can set up “pretty darn quick”.

I tried PDQ for the first time today, after driving by it every day wondering what it was about. The concept reminds me of In-N-Out Burger on the west coast (minus the burgers). It’s totally In-N-Out Chicken. Small/simple menu, fresh/never frozen ingredients, slender fresh cuts fries (PDQ’s are crinkled), shakes and good service. I got the grilled chicken sandwich and fries, definitely fresh, definitely good. I’ll be back.

I have known Mr Basham and his team for years… PDQ will be a great company and industry leader…

Just tried eating at PDQ for the first time. I must say that it is also going to be my last time. I didn’t know they had such a limited menu. Wow, six selections.
I ordered the Thanksgiving Turkey Sandwich with FF. Hopefully no one would serve turkey like that to guest in their home. Also the FFs were tasteless and cold.
My wife and I threw away our meals and went to another place to eat.

FRESH FOOD FAST….It’s not FAST FOOD! Its real fresh high quality food cooked to order! BRILLIANT! I love the fresh cut Fries, the FRESH TENDERS are the best Tenders I’ve ever tasted, the flavor, crunch, juiciness and the fact that they are REAL TENDERS instead of what I get at the competition! I’m not spending anymore money @ PDQ and the food is superior.

I go to the store in Fort Mill. Food is good. Buns are good. Spices and sauces are good. Fries are GREAT! Chicken is tasty. Shakes are very good. They put too much ice in the drinks though. Every time I go, I get 3/4 cup of ice and 1/4 drink. Next time I’ll order a drink without ice.

PDQ is bad ass. Service is top notch, the food is spectacular. The cost is a little higher but you can actually taste the difference.
I love the crispy turkey sandwich….Very good

I really like their salads, but they need to post some nutrition information on their products. I cannot just eat or let the kids eat without knowing how much fat or calories. p d q restaurant nutrition information is needed tokeep me coing back.
