On November 1, College Board released their 2nd annual AP (Advance Placement Program) District Honor Roll. The Honor roll recognized 367 U.S. and Canada public school districts that simultaneously achieved increases in access to AP® courses for a broader number of students and also maintained or improved the rate at which their AP students earned scores of 3 or higher on an AP Exam. The Second Annual AP Honor Roll is made up of only those school districts that are simultaneously expanding opportunity and improving performance.

I saw a post on Toys For Joy’s Facebook wall today that they are in need of more toys. Toys For Joy is a Fort Mill SC Toy drive program by Kelly Lavallee. November 29th and 30th are registration days for recipients to receive toys and Kelly’s post indicates she is seeing heavy registration of children needing assistance for Christmas Toys this year.

Friday Dec 2nd
Rock Hill SC – starts at 6:30 p.m. starts on on Oakland Avenue in front of Winthrop University and ends downtown.
Saturday Dec 3rd
Fort Mill SC – starts at 11 a.m. at Unity Cemetery and travels down Tom Hall Street to Main Street.
Hickory Grove SC – starts at 3 p.m. near the old Oxford plant and travels down Wylie Avenue to the VFW building.
Sunday Dec 4th
Tirzah SC – starts at 3 p.m. on Tirzah Road between S.C. 4 and S.C. 161 in York.

WCNC reporter Tony Burbeck’s story on Nov 15th, 2011 has confirmed our story back in September 2010 (Is Publix Grocery Coming To Fort Mill SC) that Publix’s grocery will build a 49,000 sq ft store on the corner of Pleasant Rd and Gold Hill Rd in the Fort Mill Township near Tega Cay SC (York County).

Pendleton Village Shopping Center across form Baxter Village is seeing new life besides Lowes Home Improvement. Baxter Bunch Playhouse opened its doors on Monday 11/14/2011.

Here is a great reason to consider moving to Fort Mill SC. Continental Tire the Americas, LLC (CTA) has once again received an award from the Charlotte Business Journal as one of the “Best Places to Work” in the Charlotte area.
Just so you know, Fort Mill SC is just minutes south of Charlotte and considered part of the Charlotte Metro. The preliminary November 8 2011 Tega Cay election results show Ron Kirby and Chris Larsen securing the 2 available Tega Cay City Council seats. Out of 5,896 register voters in Tega Cay, approximately 13% voted Tuesday. Greg Rogers, who ran in the last Tega Cay election for city council came up at least 167 votes short to win a city council.
