North Carolina grants a Job Development Investment Grant to Husqvarna that could be worth up to $2.5 million to the company. In return Husqvarna will move its North American headquarters from Augusta, Ga., to Charlotte. This means approximately 160 new jobs will be created for the Charlotte Metro.

Swedish owned outdoor power equipment manufacturer Husqvarna plans to consolidate its Consumer Outdoor Products subsidiary in Augusta with its Professional Products office in Charlotte to create the North American headquarters. (more…)

Exciting news Tega Cay and Fort Mill!  George and Jan Wallace from Tega Cay are opening a new garden center in Fort Mill in Spring 2010. It took vision and nerves of steel, but Jan and George purchased property on Highway 160 at the border of North and South Carolina and are building a premier garden center. (more…)

Great news for Fort Mill Home Buyers and Sellers.  Congress has passed legislation to extend the First-Time Home Buyer Tax Credit. But the bill added incentives to current home owners. Here are the details of the extended home buyer tax credit signed by the President November 6,2009.

The new bill:

* Extends the First-Time Home Buyer Tax Credit of up to $8,000 to first-time home buyers until April 30, 2010.

* Expands the credit to grant up to $6,500 credit to current home owners purchasing a new or existing home between November 7, 2009 and April 30, 2010. (more…)

HomesFortMill.com has had a free home search tool for quite some time for the Charlotte Metro area including homes for sale in Fort Mill and Tega Cay. Fort Mill Realtor® Carmen Miller decided it was time to super charge the home search tool feature on her website. HomesFortMill.com now has a new more powerful free home search tool.

Why the change? Our Fort Mill, York County area is on the border of North Carolina and South Carolina. Some local Realtors® on both sides of the border don’t always list homes and properties for sale in both Multiple Listing services that are available in our area. Carmen Miller’s home search tool now searches for information available on both the Carolina Multiple Listing Service and the Piedmont Multiple Listing Service. Not all local home search tools get data from both services.

2009 property tax rates have been established and tax bills are going out for all cities in York County South Carolina including Clover, Fort Mill, Tega Cay, and Rock Hill. Not surprisingly, several cities have increased property taxes again. There are a few cities where millage rates are flat or actually lower.

Fort Mill and Tega Cay have the largest increase in millage rates. If your property is assessed at a 4% rate (primary residence) your millage rate has increased 10.6% in Fort Mill and 9.5% in Tega Cay. If your property is assessed at 6%, your millage rate increase is approx 7% in both cities. (more…)

The City of Tega Cay and the Tega Cay Golf Club had a huge announcement this week. The Tega Cay Golf Club and Course has been added as a location for future LPGA events. A scheduled event has not yet been officially announced but the city speculates the first Ladies Professional Golf Association event may come as soon as Fall 2010.
